Set amongst the lower Mount Lofty ranges approximately 45 minutes south of Adelaide, South Australia, this maritime setting is known for producing grapes of exceptional quality.

Climate

The McLaren Vales climate is much like the Mediterranean with hot dry summers and mild wet winters. The McLaren Vale varies in temperatures throughout the region due the rolling Mount Lofty ranges and cool sea breezes that alleviates some of the dry hot weather in summer.

Soils

The soils in the McLaren Vale vary from site to site ranging from sandy loams to yellow clay, which are most suited to grape growing

Varieties

McLaren Vale signature varieties include Cabernet and Shiraz, which are normally wines that are full bodied and rich. Other popular varieties include Grenache, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc which when planted in the cooler areas become very tropical.
